Scope
Written before anything is built, because the boundaries are easier to keep when they were decided early.
In scope
- Aggregate figures over time: the rating, the number of ratings, and when each was observed.
- A watched list of items chosen deliberately.
- Comparison of the same item across marketplaces that publish it.
Out of scope
- Accusing any seller, product or reviewer of manipulation.
- Storing or republishing the text of individual reviews.
- Collecting personal data about reviewers.
- Bulk collection of an entire catalogue.
- Selling collected data on to third parties.
Why publish this now
A project that watches other people's public numbers should say what it will not do with them before it starts, not after somebody asks.
